Energy Experts Set Eyes on Growth in Angola for 2021

Africa Oil & Power, a major investment platform for the sector on the entire continent, recently hosted leading experts during a webinar to share their views about the future perspectives in Angola, specifically.

The extent to which the COVID pandemic is affecting the global economy is still not fully clear, but oil producing countries, such as Angola, are being hit particularly hard as prices for the commodity were already negatively affected as a result of disagreements among some of the leading oil producing nations.

Therefore, the webinar was held under the theme ‘Mitigating COVID-19: Preserving Angola’s Momentum for 2021’.

While all panelists agreed that these are challenging times, they also see opportunities going forward. Chief among them was the idea that this is a good time to promote greater involvement of local professionals and companies in the sector, a tendency that has already been on the up in recent years.

Furthermore, the current crisis comes in a context of broader economic reforms led by the Angolan government, which should help soften the blow somewhat. Encouragingly, no major new projects in the oil and gas sector were cancelled in Angola, but rather delayed for the time being, while the sector eyes a growth trajectory for 2021.

More details about the webinar can be found under the following link, , while it should be noted that the Angola Oil & Gas 2020 conference will be held on October 14-15 in Luanda.
