Construction on Cabinda Refinery to begin in August

Following the demining, clearing and leveling of the precinct of the Cabinda Refinery, as well as the completion for the plant’s layout and engineering studies, formal construction works are set to begin in August 2020.

Overall, construction of the project is scheduled to take place over three phases and due to be completed in 2023. The refinery will produce gasoline, diesel, aircraft fuel and naphtha, and reverse Angola’s dependence as an importer of these products.

In fact, the Cabinda Refinery will contribute towards developing the local economy and downstream sector in Angola and generate additional streams of revenue for the State through exports.

Gemcorp Capital LLP and Sonaref are partners in this project valued at over US$ 500 million, which should also generate 1,500 direct and indirect local jobs, once completed.
